Noun Phrases

A phrase is a group of words that do not have subject and predicate.
A noun phrase is a phrase that function as a noun.
Every noun phrase has a noun head



E.g. : a good story book in the cup board
a good story : post modifier
book : noun head
in the cup board : post modifier

How can we develop nouns into noun phrase?
1. By adding a determiner : a,an,the,some, your, his, many, more, five, etc.
2. By adding adjectives : good, bad, long, short, beautiful, etc.
3. By adding a present participle : opening, walking, running, sleeping, etc.
4. By adding a past participle : written, spoken, crooked, made, etc.
5. By adding a noun : bus, tv, arm, potato, etc.
